"Dating services are such a pain," thought Desmond. He had been using one for more than two years now... ever since his last girlfriend died from an overdose in some drug. He was done trying to scavenge a real woman from the mess around his town. Only thing was, there didn't seem to be anyone out there for him on dating services either.

Desmond was an exceptionally handsome man, but he was starting to get to the age where he felt he had to find "the one." Having grown up in a ghetto-like stature of living, Desmond had endured a great deal to reach the point he was at now. College hadn't been easy, but he had managed to pass with good grades, finally obtaining his college degree. Now, he wasn't living like a king, but he had found a stable job with a decent amount of income.

Today, Desmond was feeling almost desperate about his search for a good woman. Sure, there where plenty of pretty, nice women out there... but so far no one had really clicked with him. It was almost as though he could sense superficialness when he would begin to talk to one or another of them. He had signed up for multiple dating services over the past two years, not a single one bringing up a truly promising match... each woman just seemed to have at least one glaring fault which he knew he wouldn't be able to deal with... until now.

Emiline was beautiful. Desmond was bewildered by the very sight of her, it wasn't that she was necessarily the most physically beautiful woman, but the way her eyes and face just glowed with confidence, happiness, joy... it was as though she emitted light from every part of her face. She was the one. She had to be. Desmond had never felt such an overwhelming thrill of joy surge through him before. Within minutes he had cancelled all his other dating services and sent Emiline a message of interest.

Within a few days Emiline responded, exclaiming her enthusiasm to get to know him... she wasn't sure what she felt, but it seemed like they just clicked, even if they had never met before.

After a month of sending replies back and forth, Desmond asked if she would like to meet up sometime. Emiline responded with an excited "yes," it wasn't long before Desmond realized that they actually lived in the same city, and upon further questioning that Emiline actually only lived a few streets away.

They decided to meet up at a local restaurant for dinner. As Desmond approached the location on the designated night, his nerves gave way to shock as the woman rose from the table she was sitting at. Astonishment was apparent on both of their faces as they suddenly realized that they had known each other from years before. Emiline had been Desmond's childhood friend nearly twenty years ago, before she had been taken by child services to live with foster parents... Now, here she was, the woman... the woman he loved. After a few moments of bewildering silence Desmond closed the distance between them quickly, knelt down and made a proposal of marriage to her. "Yes," was all Emiline could manage before she flung her arms around his neck. This was by far the most exciting moment in Desmond's life... so far.
